“The real heroes are the librarians and teachers who at no small risk to themselves refuse to lie down and play dead for censors.”
What is a teacher? For me, a teacher is a person who sees you every weekday an hour or two. A teacher is someone who teaches you lessons. A teacher is someone who believes in you, encourages you and loves you. A teacher is our modern day hero.

Do you know how hard it is to be a teacher? Well to be honest, I myself don't really know how hard being a teacher can be but I somehow have an idea. Have you ever taught someone, like with their homework or something? I was just wondering because I have. Whenever I teach my siblings or help them with their homework, I get so frustrated with them whenever they are too slow on getting the lesson. That is just me teaching a child or two, but can you imagine teaching 30-50 of them all at once? See how frustrating that can be? That is how hard being a teacher can be. That is what they go through everyday with us being their students.

My mom is a teacher in the USA so she has lots of friends who are also teachers there. I tend to be nosy whenever they have these serious talks. Sometimes, a teacher who is a friend of my mom will complain and say something like
"Hindi ko na kaya to! Sobrang hirap na! Araw-araw nalang nila akong binibigyan ng sakit ng ulo. Hindi nakikinig. Sumasagot pa! Suko na ko!"
While sometimes, that friend of my mom will just break down and cry because of too much stress from school and being homesick added to that stress. It indeed is really hard to be a teacher.

We as students have to also understand our teachers just like how they are understanding to us. We have to work together to build up that bond and to learn from each other. I know that there are times when we can't seem to understand our teachers and their moods. I know that sometimes they are too fast when they teach a new lesson. I know that there are times when they just randomly get moody with us and sometimes they start raising their voices but we have to understand them. They are people like us. They have problems too. They have a family outside of the school too. They have greater responsibilities than us so we have to understand them.

Since it is the Teacher's day, let us all take this moment and thank our teachers. The teachers who loves us and believes in us. Thank you teachers for being understanding. Thank you all for being patient enough and not giving up on us. Thank you for sharing your life stories. Thank you for inspiring us all. Thank you for being our second moms and dads. Thank you for being there. Thank you for being a part of our lives. Though a million thank yous wouldn't be enough, I still thank you for everything.

If I was asked to define a teacher, a million words would come to my mind. Words from intelligent to inspiring would come to my mind. A teacher is indeed inspiring. A teacher is like hero that saves us from the wrongs in this world. A teacher is someone who speaks the truth. So basically for me, a teacher is a superhuman.

"The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called 'truth'."
