Harry Potter

Jun 9, 2013

Harry Potter is one of the few who I consider as my hero. It all started when my mother rented DVDs of the Harry Potter series available at that time. I think it was mid-Fall when I got to know Harry Potter. I found out a lot about him like when Harry was younger, he was neglected by the people who took him in. He didn't have a proper bedroom and they never gave him the proper treatment. He was bullied. He was a lonely child.

Unlike Harry Potter, I was not a loner. I had friends and I hung out with them a lot. You see, I was like the normal teenager. The kind of teenager that would always hang out with her group of friends that she spends so little time with her family. While watching the series, I found out that Harry Potter is longing to be loved. Even though there are people who care about him, he is still desiring to feel the love of his real parents. Then, realization finally hit me. I realized that there are so many children around the world, who are just like Harry Potter ,longing to be caressed with love by their mother's delicate and caring hands. They are all longing to be engulfed in the hug of a parent where they would feel warm and safe. There are so many children who are dying just to feel the love of a father. I realized that it was so ludicrous of me to just disregard my parents like that when I know that they love me with all their heart. I never felt so much luckier than what I felt at that time. I was luckier than the rich who never felt the love of his parents. Harry Potter made me realize that.

After watching the series, I balanced my time for both my friends and my family. I spent more time with my family and I got to know them better. I consider my parents as my heroes too. Without them I would be nothing. However, I wanted to share that even a fictional character, even someone like Harry Potter can change a person for the better. Harry Potter made me become a better person. A person who treasures her family  and loves them. A person that would be proud of her parents forever and always.
